SAS: Zombie Assault TD: tower strategy and Establishing Uplink
Last checked 2026-10-29. Claims link the source that supports them.
SAS: Zombie Assault TD is the series’ standalone tower defense game. Place soldiers, automated turrets and barriers to stop zombies reaching the exit. The US App Store listing remains free with in-app purchases as reviewed October 29, 2026. It is a different game from the shooter SAS3 and the class-based SAS4.
Build a route, then strengthen its damage
The store description recommends creating mazes and chokepoints with towers and sandbags. A useful starting plan is to concentrate fire where enemies spend the most time in range, then strengthen that coverage before adding isolated defenses elsewhere. Keep an answer for enemies that threaten your defensive structures, rather than assuming the route will remain intact.
Use temporary crate powers when pressure rises: the store names Cryo Grenades, Necro Nukes, Airstrikes and Attack Choppers, and explicitly recommends spending the support powers earned during a run. Those are the publisher’s descriptions; the suggested spending priority here is an editorial starting approach.
Maps and Ruin
The community mission guide describes Mean Street as an ambush route with rooftop positions, Sub-Zero as a map with multiple entrances, and Dead Warehouse as a tight funnel. It also lists Shop Til You Drop, Killtop, Touchdown, Cleanup on Aisle 13 and Outbreak Mansion. These layouts and names are single-source wiki guidance. The eight names differ from the iOS store’s seven-map advertising; do not assume the browser and iOS inventories match.
Ruin belongs to TD, not the SAS4 map list. The TD wiki places this boss from wave 40 and describes attacks that destroy defenses. Both pages are the same community source. Build boss damage before that point and keep emergency powers available, rather than relying entirely on a maze.
Establishing Uplink: what the evidence supports
The message is documented in historical player reports: an October 2013 Kongregate comment and a November 2014 comment both describe loading stopping at Establishing Uplink. These independent player observations establish the symptom, not its cause or a successful fix.
If this is the message you see, record whether the affected edition is the browser game, Archive or iOS, copy the full message and include the approximate time in a Ninja Kiwi support request. No TD-specific published fix was established in this review. The 2022 shutdown announcement names SAS3 web and SAS4 web, so it cannot by itself prove that TD’s uplink message is a server shutdown.
Downloads and version history
The US Apple record gives February 14, 2013 for release and March 7, 2013 for version 1.1 (single Apple source). The community Archive catalog also lists the Flash game; the publisher’s Steam collection is the desktop reference. Catalog inclusion does not guarantee every legacy service is available. No current standalone TD Steam listing or confirmed TD2 release was established in the reviewed sources.
Questions on this page
Where can I find SAS TD?
The public US App Store listing is free with in-app purchases. A community catalog also lists its Flash edition in Ninja Kiwi Archive.
Is Ruin a SAS4 map?
No. The community wiki identifies Ruin as the tower defense boss. Its wave-40 appearance is a single-source wiki detail.
Is there a proven Establishing Uplink fix?
The symptom is documented in separate 2013 and 2014 player reports, but those comments do not establish a cause or a successful repair.
