SAS: Zombie Assault 4: free downloads and a guide to getting started

Last checked 2026-10-29. Claims link the source that supports them.

SAS: Zombie Assault 4 is free to play, with optional in-app purchases. Its Steam release is dated October 16, 2017; the US Apple record dates iOS to October 23, 2014. The 2017 date is the Steam launch, not the beginning of SAS4. Both dates are platform records from their respective stores, reviewed October 29, 2026.

Which version should you download?

Availability and the iOS version above are single-source records for each platform. The three store descriptions are published by Ninja Kiwi, so repeated marketing copy is not three independent confirmations of current service behavior.

Your first decisions: class, build and equipment

For a first character, compare Assault, Heavy and Medic: damage and movement, durability, or healing and support. Then choose one of the sourced skill allocations. The map guide lists actual mission objectives so you can distinguish evacuation, escort and defense tasks.

The Android description advertises three classes, solo play and co-op for up to four. It describes more than 160 guns and armor pieces combined, not 160 guns. Strongboxes and augments are the foundation of equipment progression. See the weapon shortlist for practical roles and acquisition routes.

Do people still play SAS4?

Yes: SteamCharts records Steam activity into 2026, and the Steam store continues to show recent user reviews. Those are different kinds of evidence: SteamCharts counts concurrent Steam users; reviews show recent feedback, not how many people are online. Neither supplies a combined PC, iOS and Android population. Use the player-count guide for interpreting the figures.

Browser SAS4 and the new game

The native release is separate from SAS4 web. The publisher’s April 2022 announcement ended SAS4 web service from April 30, including Archive. Older collection descriptions still mentioning Flash multiplayer should be read with that later notice.

Zombie Assault: Resurgence is a separate game released October 28, 2026 (Steam record), with its own progression. A search for “new SAS4” may mean that sequel; SAS4 builds should not be copied into it. SAS3 is the earlier alternative for players interested in the older rank-based design.

SAS4 aliases

SAS4, SAS 4, s.a.s 4 and sas:4 refer here to SAS: Zombie Assault 4. Keeping the full title helps distinguish it from similarly named zombie games and from the separate Resurgence release.
