Resurgence best class: choose Assault, Heavy or Medic by role
Last checked 2026-10-29. Claims link the source that supports them.
Our starting recommendation
Start with Assault if you want a general combat character with mobility; choose Heavy if defensive crowd control is your priority. Consider Medic for a support-focused group. This is an editorial starting recommendation as of October 29, 2026, not a claim that one class has the best measured damage, win rate or endgame build.
Steam confirms the three classes and branching skill system. The detailed role descriptions below come from the Resurgence-specific community pages, not SAS4. Community source only: those pages describe pre-launch material and have not been independently checked against the launch build.
Three-class comparison
| Class | Choose it when… | Evidence and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Assault | You want movement tools and general combat rather than a fixed defensive role. | Fandom’s Resurgence Assault page lists Dash, Kinetic Burst and Adrenaline, and describes mobility and attack. Community source only; no launch cooldown or damage ranking established. |
| Heavy | You prefer a defensive role and crowd control. | Fandom’s Resurgence Heavy page describes defensive abilities, a larger health pool and higher aggression. Community source only; drawing attention is a trade-off, not proof it is always easier. |
| Medic | You want to fill a support role in a regular squad. | Steam confirms Medic exists. The support preference is editorial advice; a complete Resurgence Medic ability table was not readable in this review, so no healing values, perk order or solo ranking is asserted. |
The Assault and Heavy pages are from the same wiki and count as one source family. Their SAS4 namesakes are separate pages with different mechanics; do not transfer a SAS4 point allocation or percentage into a Resurgence build.
Solo, beginner and co-op choices
New to the series: our default is Assault because the documented movement role offers a clear way to reposition. Prefer holding space: Heavy is the alternative supported by the documented defensive role. These choices follow the Assault and Heavy descriptions; they are not first-hand performance results.
Playing with friends: agree whether you need movement, crowd control or a support-focused player, rather than insisting everyone copy a single class. The store permits solo and co-op play; it does not require a specific class composition. No evidence here establishes that Medic is mandatory or unable to solo.
Skills and perk priorities without false precision
Ninja Kiwi advertises 6 core skills, 6 class skills, 3 activated abilities and 2 specialty branches (Steam skill-system description; publisher source only, also repeated on mobile). These counts describe the system, not how many points to invest in a specific launch build.
Our provisional priority is to support the role you chose: movement and general combat for Assault, survival and control for Heavy, and the group’s support needs for Medic. No verified launch perk-by-perk allocation, cooldown table or universal “best perks” order is available in the cited evidence. Spending recommendations here are qualitative; no SAS4 percentages or invented level cap are used.
Demo versus full release
The January 30 Dev Diary #13 describes a demo cap of 12 with Base/Class Skills and limited equipment. The August 4, 2025 playtest diary described rank 10 for that earlier test and a currency cost for respecs. Ninja Kiwi source only; historical builds. Neither number is established here as the full-game cap or a current respec price.
The iOS storefront reports version 1.1 on October 29 (Apple source only); that is not the Steam build identifier. Recommendations are dated to the launch review, with no claim that demo balance survived unchanged. Full-game rankings require additional public evidence, not a requirement for readers to launch or log into the game.
Questions on this page
What is the best class for a beginner?
Our provisional default is Assault for general combat and mobility, with Heavy as the defensive alternative. This follows community role descriptions, source only, and is not a measured launch tier list.
Should my co-op group use Medic?
Consider Medic if someone wants a support role. The reviewed sources do not establish that Medic is mandatory or provide a confirmed launch perk allocation.
Can I reuse a demo Heavy or Medic build?
Treat demo advice as historical. The demo announcement does not guarantee identical launch skills, gear or balance, and SAS4 point allocations are for another game.
